Jerry’s Life Altering Decision pt. 2

One day, Jerry decided he would choose to believe in Jesus, as the penitentiary Chaplain had talked about to him. He knew in his mind that his life behind bars offered him constant shame, discouragement, fighting and boredom. From a purely practical sense, Jerry realized he would be improving his mindset to something positive instead of the constant negativity. So, one day he said to the penitentiary Chaplain,

“Okay, I do not know how to do this,”

“Just be honest to God, he hears you” said the Chaplain.

So, Jerry dropped his head into his hands while saying,

“God, I have really messed up the one life you gave me. I have cheated, I have lied, I have stolen. You and I both know I did not rape that girl, but for some reason I am here, locked up for life. I give it all to you, every issue. Please just show me how to live this new Christian life for you in here.”

So began Jerry’s new Christian life. The chaplain gave him a new Bible, a New International version. It was not written in the King James language like his mother’s Bible. He could better understand this New International Version, instead of the “thee’s and thou’s” of the King James Version. He learned that the King James Version had been written in 1611. So, it made sense to him that it was hard to understand. He no longer felt stupid reading the Bible. So, he began reading it every night….

Jerry’s teeth will be written more about soon…
