The Other Side of the Mountains

The young, once ten year old Sue, now lived with her husband and children in Eastern Washington. Her own life had been a series of mistakes that she regretted. Yet now she was the mother two beautiful children. She volunteered regularly at their Elementary school. She had left the tough streets of Tacoma years ago. She settled into her routine of laundry, meal preparation, volunteering, sewing and a bit of knitting. Her husband, a truck driver, had a very irregular schedule.

They began attending a local church, a practice that was different for both Sue and her husband. Both she and her husband had decided to become believers early in their marriage. They both had lived rough lives growing up in Tacoma. They both wanted a different life for their children.

Sue loved the children’s church where her kids regularly attended. They often came home with Bible stories and practical things they could do to live out the concepts in their lives.

Sue relished the opportunity to learn from her own children about the Bible. Every night when she was putting them to bed she read them another Bible story. Her current life was not only miles away from her own growing up, but miles away from her regrets.
