Fitness
I have consistently done workouts my entire life. Back in the day when I could still run, I would typically wake around 5:30 and then go running with a friend, so I could leave for work by 7:30. Aerobics, basketball, racquetball, yoga, swimming, soccer, tennis, and strength conditioning filled my routines over the years. My first ten years with Multiple Sclerosis, the disease took away my fitness. So, having been a teacher, I knew how to have a big goal and then be able to break it down into micro-manageable little goals. So, when I first began in the early days of my multiple sclerosis, my goal started with being able to drive to the high school track and then be able to hoist my walker out of my car and then be able to put my walker back in the car and drive home. When I think back to those early days after diagnosis, I am glad I did not settle on staying there. My routine now consists of walking a mile or two 4 days a week and swimming 2 days a week. My routine encourages me every day. We know that endorphins are released in the brain giving us positive moods when we exercise. So, how about you? What do you do to stay positive and healthy?
