A Social Life
Before my M.S. diagnosis, I had been able to take part in social activities on a whim. I was now learning that planning and plenty of time preparation where necessary with my new life. So, I began planning my schedule for the week on Sundays.
I was certain that I only did one large activity for the week. My energy level now mandated that I plan my activities and organize my day around it. A few years ago, a close High-school friend was diagnosed with A.L.S. She lived about 40 minutes drive away from me. I made it my goal to visit her weekly.
We laughed, we told stories and we prayed together. We both knew that our prayers for a “cure” would be silly, presumptuous, and not were we wanted to spend our limited energy resources. So, we prayed that she might die peacefully and without pain.
