Hello May!
May Day is next Thursday….
“May Day” is originally a European festival of ancient origins marking the beginning of summer. The best-known modern May Day traditions are observed both in Europe and North America, include dancing around the maypole and crowning the Queen of May. Fading in popularity since the late 20th century is the tradition of giving of "May baskets", small baskets of sweets or flowers, usually left anonymously on neighbors' doorsteps.”
I had a surprise gifting of a May Day basket on my front porch a few times over the years. It totally surprised me, and it had the explanation of the day in the basket.
So, this year I’m going to do the same for a number of our neighbors. Baskets are cheap at Goodwill and finding chocolate at my house is not hard to do. My yard always has flowers growing. So, I’ll let you know what I cook up and you be sure to let me know if you’re a giver or receiver of a May Day basket.
