Jerry - Life in Prison

…Jerry…I wanna tell you a bit of his story…John and I were newly married. We went to church and listened to a man give a testimony about his life. He is similar age to me. So, as he started describing the Tacoma he grew up in, I totally understood his description. See, in that area of Tacoma, we (me and my siblings) told strongly, by our parents, that we should NEVER go into that area. I was just certainly a “chick from the sticks” during that time.

Jerry’s single mom did the best she could raising many children on a meager income. His neighborhood culture, at that time, included gangs, robbery, assaults, and even murder. Unfortunately, Jerry got involved in that culture. He had a couple robberies that sent him to jail but he quickly returned to the only life he knew. Susan, a young girl in the neighborhood did not like Jerry. She complained to her other ten-year-old friend about Jerry.
